GLASGOW, UK – Paul Jubb entered the ATP Challenger via the qualifying. The Brit made the main draw and got to the final.

Paul Jubb entered the ATP Challenger event qualifying and made the main draw. In the first round the Brit was against the third seed Francesco Maestrelli. The Italian stayed with Jubb in the first set, before the Brit secured the vital break of serve and took the lead. The second set saw Maestrelli re-group. The set looked to be heading to a tiebreak, however, the third seed broke serve and levelled up the match. The final set saw Jubb break early and hold on to move into the next round 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.

The second round saw the Brit against fellow qualifier Brit Charlie Robertson. Jubb dominated the match from the outset. The 24 year old broke serve of the 17 year old easily in both sets. Robertson tried to get back into it, but Jubb was just too good. The 24 year old moved into the next round in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

In the quarter-final Jubb was against wildcard Henry Searle. Jubb & Searle stayed toe to toe in the early stages, before the older Brit broke serve and took the lead. Searle, the 2023 boys Wimbledon Champion, re-grouped in the second set. The junior broke serve to level up the match. In the final set Jubb dominated his compatriot and moved into the next round 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

The semi-final saw Jubb against German Elmar Ejupovic. The German got the break in the first set against Jubb and took the lead. The second set saw Jubb fight back and force a tiebreak. In the breaker the Brit dominated and levelled up the match. The final set saw the Brit break early and hold on for the win 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.

In the final the Brit was against Clement Chidekh. Jubb dominated the first set as the Frenchman couldn’t get into the match. The Brit didn’t lose a game in the first set and took the lead. The second set was closer as Chidekh started to work out Jubb. The Frenchman broke serve in the second set and levelled up the match. The final set saw Chidekh dominate the qualifier and lift the title in three sets 0-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Doubles

Scott Duncan & Marcus Willis were the top seeds in the doubles. In the first round they were against Henry Wendelken & David Poljak. The seeds & the Brit/Czech pair stayed close in the first set, before Duncan & Willis broke serve and took the lead. The second set saw the top seeds dominate and move into the next round in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

The quarter-final saw the top seeds against Elmar Ejupovic & Clement Chidekh & Roy Stepanov. The French/Israeli pair were outclassed by the Brits who dominated from the outset. The top seeds lost only one game as they eased through to the next round 6-0, 6-1.

In the semi-final the Brits were against third seeds Thomas Fancutt & Hunter Reese. The Australian/American pair stayed with the Brits in the first set and forced a tiebreak. The Brits edged through and took the lead. The second set saw both pairs go toe to toe again with another tiebreak. This time it was Fancutt & Reese that edged through and levelled up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw the top seeds edge through and book a spot in the final 7-6(7), 6-7(5), 10-7.

The final saw the top seeds against Kyle Edmund & Henry Searle. In the first set the top seeds broke early as the wildcard pair tried hard to stay on terms. The top seeds held onto the break and took the lead. The second set saw Duncan & Willis dominate and lift the trophy 6-3, 6-2.

Glasgow Round Up

Anton Matusevich was defeated by Robert Stombachs in the first round 7-6(3), 6-1.

Aidan McHugh was defeated by Charles Broom in the first round 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(5).

George Houghton & Mark Whitehouse were defeated by Kyle Edmund & Henry Searle in the first round 6-1, 6-4.

Giles Hussey & Stuart Parker were defeated by James Davis & Hamish Stewart in the first round 6-0, 6-7(6), 12-10.

James MacKinlay with Alex Knaff were defeated by Charles Broom & Ben Jones in the first round 5-7, 6-3, 10-5.

Dan Cox was defeated by Henry Searle in the second round 6-4, 6-4.

Charles Broom was defeated by Elmar Ejupovic in the second round 6-4, 6-3.

Kyle Edmund was defeated by Stuart Parker in the second round 7-6(4), 7-6(5).

Hamish Stewart was defeated by Clement Chidekh in the quarter-final 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Stuart Parker was defeated by Elmar Ejupovic in the quarter-final 0-0 (RET).

Aidan McHugh with Jerome Kym were defeated by Thomas Fancutt & Hunter Reese in the quarter-final 6-2, 7-6(6).

Charles Broom & Ben Jones were defeated by James Davis & Hamish Stewart in the quarter-final 6-4, 1-6, 10-6.

James Davis & Hamish Stewart were defeated by Kyle Edmund & Henry Searle in the semi-final 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.
