Brit of the Week

Emile Hudd entered the ITF event in France and was unseeded. In the first round Hudd was against Serbian Boris Butulija. Both players stayed toe to toe in the first set and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker the Brit eased ahead and took the lead. The second set was a little easier for the Brit who managed to break serve and move into the next round in straight sets 7-6(3), 6-3.

The second round saw the Brit against seventh seed Maxence Rivet. The Frenchman stayed with Hudd at the start of the match. Eventually, in the first set, Hudd broke the serve of Rivet and took the lead. The second set was much closer. Rivet and Hudd went toe to toe and it looked to be heading to a tiebreak. However, right at the end of the set the Brit secured the break of serve and moved into the next round 6-4, 7-5.

In the quarter-final Hudd was against second seed Frenchman Kenny De Schepper. The Brit dominated the first set and eased into the lead. The second set saw De Schepper dominate and level up the match. In the final set Hudd needed only one break of serve to seal the victory and move in to the next round 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.

The semi-final saw the Brit against unseeded Frenchman Alexandre Reco. Hudd found the Frenchman too strong in the first set, as Reco dominated and took the lead. The second set was better for the Brit. Hudd went toe-to-toe with Reco and broke serve to level up the match. The final set saw both players stay close, before Reco eventually broke serve and moved into the final 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
