Tennis | Challenger & ITF Round Up | Harris makes quarter-final of ATP Lille Challenger

LILLE, FRANCE – Billy Harris entered the ATP Challenger and was unseeded. The Brit made the quarter-final before losing to finalist.

Brit of the Week

Billy Harris entered the Challenger in France and was unseeded. In the first round the Brit was against Arthur Gea. The French wildcard stayed close with Harris in the first set, before the Brit broke serve and took the lead. The second set was even closer. Gea and Harris stayed toe to toe and eventually went to a tiebreak. In the breaker the Brit edged through and moved into the second round 6-4, 7-6(4).

The second round saw the Brit against seventh seed Benjamin Hassan. The German stayed with Harris at the start of the set, before Harris broke the serve of the seed to move ahead. The second set saw Hassan re-group and break the Brit to level up the match. In the final set, Harris broke early and the seed struggled to get back on serve. Eventually, Harris moved into the next round 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

In the quarter-final Harris was against the top seed Arthur Rinderknech. The first set saw the Brit break serve of the top seed to take the lead. The second set was much closer and appeared to be heading to a tiebreak. However, the Frenchman broke right at the end of the set and levelled up the match. The final set saw Harris stay with Rinderknech, before the Frenchman broke serve to take the match 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Jan Choinski was defeated by Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round in Lille 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.

Oliver Crawford was defeated by Evgeny Donskoy in the first round in New Delhi 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

Matthew Summers was defeated by Miguel Damas in the first round in Villena 6-0, 6-1.

Harry Wendelken was defeated by Fausto Tabacco in the second round in Villena 7-6(4), 6-1.

Giles Hussey was defeated by Nicolai Budkov Kjaer in the second round in Villena 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Aryana Bartlett was defeated by Natalia Szabanin in the first round in Manacor 7-5, 6-4.

Kyle Stocker was defeated by Tomasz Berkieta in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-2, 6-4.

Danielle Daley was defeated by Mana Ayukawa in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Ben Jones was defeated by Tomasz Berkieta in the quarter-final in Sharm-El-Sheikh 7-6(4), 6-4.

Alexis Canter was defeated by Oliver Ojakaar in the first round in Lannion 6-4, 6-2.

Marcus Walters was defeated by Kirill Kivattsev in the first round in Lannion 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

Finn Bass was defeated by Kirill Kivattsev in the second round in Lannion 6-2, 6-3.

Emily Appleton was defeated by Anastasia Tikhonova in the first round in Macon 6-1, 6-2.

Katie Swan was defeated by Melisa Ercan in the first round in Traralgon 6-3, 6-2.

Naiktha Bains was defeated by Destanee Aiava in the second round in Traralgon 6-3, 6-2.

Amarni Banks was defeated by Priscilla Hon in the quarter-final in Traralgon 7-5, 6-3.

Katy Dunne was defeated by Anca Alexia Todoni in the first round in Helsinki 6-3, 7-5.

Ranah Akua Stoiber was defeated by Yasmine Mansouri in the first round in Gurugram 6-1, 7-6(4).
