Katie Boulter claimed her first WTA 500 title in San Diego coming from a set behind to beat Marta Kostyuk. She will need all that confidence to overcome a tricky opponent in Italy’s Camila Giorgi.

Playing Styles & Prediction

While Boulter has been working very hard over the American spring hard court fling, Giorgi will be taking to the court for the first time since Linz at the end of February. The Italian has only won one match this season – her first match in Brisbane at the start of the year.

Giorgi has slipped down the rankings and with points to defend at the Sunshine Double, a strong showing from Boulter could send her even lower than just outside the Top 100.

But it is going to be a tough turnaround for Boulter after the highs of coming from a set behind in the San Diego final. In doing so, she beat four seeds in a row, and as tricky as Giorgi can be, Boulter has shown that she has the strength of character to overcome adversity mid-match.

Prediction: Boulter in three sets.
