Henry Patten & Harri Heliovaara entered the Madrid Masters event and were the second seeds. The two times grand slam champions drew Yuki Bhambri & Robert Galloway in the first round. The Indian/American found the seeds too strong in the first set as the Brit/Fin broke serve early and took the lead. The second set was much closer though, as Bhambri & Galloway forced a tiebreak. In the breaker it was the seeds who edged through and into the next round 6-3, 7-6(4).

The second round saw the Brit/Fin against Alexander Erler & Constantin Frantzen. The Austrian/German pair stayed close at the start of the first set. Eventually, though, Patten & Heliovaara broke serve and took the lead. The second set was more of the same, and once again the seeds broke serve and moved into the next round 6-4, 6-4.

In the quarter-final the Brit/Fin were against fifth seeds Horacio Zeballos & Marcel Granollers. The Argentine/Spaniard went toe-to-toe with Patten & Haliovaara and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker the fifth seeds eased through and took the lead. The second set saw Zeballos & Granollers break early, and although the Brit/Fin tried, they were not able to get back on terms. The fifth seeds moved on 7-6(3), 6-3.
