Tournament Previous Best R2 (2024) R2 (2017, 2022)

Overall Service Points Won % 57.1 56.4

Surprisingly the altitude of Madrid has not been a friend to Siniakova either, with neither player having advanced past the second round, but Boulter’s stop and start year has her trailing Siniakova in all but break point conversions and just sneaks ahead on overall service points won.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Boulter is not at her most proficient on clay, but she has been working hard on improving aspects of her game, but the clay game in Madrid is different to what she can expect when the tour rumbles on to Rome and Paris.

The altitude makes the ball fizz along but so Boulter was unable to capitalise on it on her tournament debut, with the benefit of a bye.

Siniakova is an old hand at the event, and even won the doubles in 2021, but in terms of singles, she too has not managed to get past the second round. And where Boulter can remain quite level headed, Siniakova still wears her heart on her sleeve, so anything is possible if the Czech has one of her meltdowns.

It is still a tough ask for Boulter, and if nothing else, it will go the distance.

Prediction: Siniakova in three sets.
