[1] Iga Swiatek
Best Result: Champion (2023)
Swiatek will aim to continue her undefeated winning streak in Beijing after she missed out on last year’s tournament and enters this year’s event having won the Seoul title.
Swiatek’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)
- R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
- R2: Yulia Putintseva | H2H: Swiatek leads 4-1
- R3: Anna Kalinskaya [28] | H2H: Swiatek leads 2-1
- R4: Emma Navarro [16] | H2H: Swiatek leads 2-0
- QF: Jessica Pegula [5] | H2H: Swiatek leads 6-5
- SF: Mirra Andreeva [4] | H2H: Andreeva leads 2-1
- F: Coco Gauff [2] | H2H: Swiatek leads 11-4
The Wimbledon champion should open up against Yulia Putintseva before taking on Anna Kalinskaya in a rematch from the US Open. In the last 16 Swiatek could face one of Liudmila Samsonova or Emma Navarro in an open section of the draw while Naomi Osaka or Jessica Pegula are potential quarter-finalists. If Swiatek is in clinical form then she will be favourite to win the title in Beijing but the Pole knows that if her level drops just like it did in the Seoul final, then there enough players here to punish her in crucial moments.
[2] Coco Gauff
Best Result: Champion (2024)
Gauff is aiming to overcome a disappointing result at the US Open as the Roland Garros champion looks to defend her Beijing title.
Gauff’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)
- R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
- R2: Lucia Bronzetti | H2H: Gauff leads 3-0
- R3: Leylah Fernandez [25] | H2H: Gauff leads 2-0
- R4: Belinda Bencic [15] | H2H: Gauff leads 3-2
- QF: Elena Rybakina [8] | H2H: Gauff leads 1-0
- SF: Amanda Anisimova [3] | H2H: Tied at 1-1
- F: Iga Swiatek [1] | H2H: Swiatek leads 11-4
A tough start against Kamilla Rakhimova could set the tone for Gauff’s tournament with a tough draw ahead. In the third round Gauff will take on either Leylah Fernandez or Maria Sakkari with Gauff possessing good records against both. The last 16 tie against Belinda Bencic or Jelena Ostapenko will test Gauff’s defence ability before a potential quarter-final against Elena Rybakina. Overall, Gauff has a horrible draw and will do well to reach the semi-finals with confidence low and her form looking inconsistent.

[3] Amanda Anisimova
Best Result: Fourth Round (2024)
After reaching her second consecutive Grand Slam final at the US Open, Anisimova now has WTA Finals qualification in her sights.
Anisimova’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)
- R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
- R2: Hailey Baptiste | H2H: Anisimova leads 1-0
- R3: Xinyu Wang [31] | H2H: First Meeting
- R4: Karolina Muchova [13] | H2H: Anisimova leads 1-0
- QF: Jasmine Paolini [6] | H2H: Anisimova leads 1-0
- SF: Coco Gauff [2] | H2H: Tied at 1-1
- F: Iga Swiatek [1] | H2H: Tied at 1-1
In her first test, Anisimova will face either Hailey Baptiste or Katie Boulter in the American’s first match since the US Open. The third seed will face a tricky test against home favourite Xinyu Wang before either Paula Badosa or Karolina Muchova await in the fourth round. In the quarter-finals one of Elina Svitolina or Jasmine Paolini in a draw that Anisimova will need to adapt to a variety of different spins and slices if she wants to go deep. Overall, Anisimova should have the form and motivation to go all the way to the final in Beijing.
[4] Mirra Andreeva
Best Result: Quarter-Final (2024)
After a successful season, Andreeva is hoping to book her place at the WTA Finals as she bids to regain some momentum.
Andreeva’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)
- R1: BYE | H2H: N/A
- R2: Lin Zhu | H2H: First Meeting
- R3: Dayana Yastremska [29] | H2H: Andreeva leads 3-1
- R4: Daria Kasatkina [14] | H2H: Tied at 1-1
- QF: Qinwen Zheng [7] | H2H: Zheng leads 1-0
- SF: Iga Swiatek [1] | H2H: Andreeva leads 2-1
- F: Coco Gauff [2] | H2H: Gauff leads 4-0
A fairly comfortable start for Andreeva is followed by a potential third round clash with Dayana Yastremska. A fourth round test against either Diana Shnaider or Daria Kasatkina will set Andreeva up for a potentially dangerous quarter-final. The list of opponents includes Clara Tauson, Victoria Mboko and home favourite Qinwen Zheng. It will be a tough route for Andreeva but if the fourth seed can play her best tennis then she has the capability to get through a challenging tournament.
WTA Beijing starts on the 24th of September and concludes on the fifth of October.
