The form and momentum of Iga Swiatek continues to get stronger with each week as the Pole is continuing her dominance in Beijing. After winning the title in Seoul, Swiatek has backed that up by playing clinical and effective tennis as she has cruised into the last 16 in Beijing. This is a big opportunity for Swiatek as she has no points to defend and would love nothing more than to close the gap on Aryna Sabalenka at the top of the world rankings ahead of the WTA Finals.
Next up for Swiatek in Asia is Emma Navarro who is hoping for some late season momentum after a disappointing season so far. The 24 year-old has produced some patchy form this year after having such a consistently good year last year and will be hoping she can be a top 16 seed at next year’s Australian Open. In order to do that, Navarro will be looking to improve her performances on serve and that starts with a big result in Asia that would send a statement to the rest of the tour.
Swiatek is looking to be aggressive on serve and will use the forehand to force Navarro into high-risk shots. Meanwhile Navarro will look to extend the rallies and will aim to be aggressive on return. This should be a comfortable Swiatek win providing that Navarro doesn’t raise her level to heights that have never been seen before.
Prediction: Swiatek in straight sets.
Jessica Pegula [5] v Marta Kostyuk [23] H2H & Match Fundamentals

A rejuvenated Jessica Pegula will feel very relieved after passing the Emma Raducanu test in Beijing. The American was forced to save three match points in the second set before cruising through the deciding set to book her place into the last 16 in China. After reaching the semi-finals at the US Open, Pegula is hoping to step up her level as a place in the WTA Finals is on the line over the next few weeks. Should the American achieve the feat it will be a good achievement for her given an inconsistent 2025 season so far.
Next up for Pegula is Marta Kostyuk with the Ukrainian hoping to use her explosive power to her advantage. The 23 year-old has had a decent season but has still struggled with confidence at times this season with a poor European swing contributing to a lack of progress in terms of rankings. However, Kostyuk has the game to trouble any player and is hoping to cause more damage as we head towards the end of the season.
Pegula will aim to be aggressive on serve, using the backhand to dominate baseline rallies. Meanwhile, Kostyuk will aim to be aggressive on return as she will aim to strike early on in the rallies. This should be a close contest with both players playing some good tennis right now. However, Pegula’s experience and clutch tennis in crucial moments may be the difference here.
Prediction: Pegula in three sets.

Linda Noskova [26] v Anastasia Potapova H2H & Match Fundamentals
| Linda Noskova [26] v Anastasia Potapova | H2H: Tied at 1-1 |

It was a fantastic performance from Linda Noskova as she took a 3-0 lead in the deciding set before Qinwen Zheng withdrew. Despite the disappointing ending to the match, Noskova produced an aggressive and consistent performance which is something that has been lacking this season. Now Noskova will aim to capitalise on this positive performance as she looks to book her place into the Beijing quarter-finals.
Standing in Noskova’s way is Anastasia Potapova who has also enjoyed a successful tournament so far. The 24 year-old is yet to drop a set having beaten some dangerous opponents and is looking to re-enter the world’s top 50. An aggressive yet effective game with some defensive solidity and consistency means that Potapova can trouble any player and will look to do the same in Beijing in her bid to reach the quarter-finals.
Noskova will aim to be consistent and aggressive on serve while finishing points off at the net. Meanwhile Potapova will aim to disrupt Noskova’s rhythm with depth and pace on the forehand side. This will be a close match with this being a big opportunity for both players but Noskova’s quality in all areas of the court may be the decisive factor.
Prediction: Noskova in three sets.
