It was a much better performance from Carlos Alcaraz as he downed British qualifier Oliver Tarvet in a tight straight sets win. The defending champion has now won 16 consecutive matches at Wimbledon as he is still looking to extend his legacy at SW19. However, Alcaraz will feel he has another level to go to and as the opponents get more difficult the expectations will get higher as the Spaniard will be pressured to set the standards for the rest of the field to follow.
Next up for Alcaraz will be a player that tested him in five sets a few years ago in the form of powerful German Jan-Lennard Struff. Once again at Wimbledon Struff is making waves in the draw with his latest victim being Felix Auger-Aliassime, defeating the Canadian in four sets over two days. A powerful serve and a dynamite forehand, Struff has the perfect game for grass and will believe that his all-court game is made for the big stages. Now Struff will look to show that as he will have nothing to lose in this blockbuster match against the second seed.
Alcaraz will use the slice to force errors from Struff as the Spaniard will look to display his confident serving. Meanwhile Struff will use the forehand to pin Alcaraz behind the baseline while finishing off the points at the net. This will be a severe test for Alcaraz as he knows from their five set thriller a few years back but the Spaniard should have enough variety and depth to overcome this latest examination of his title defence.
Prediction: Alcaraz in four sets.
Madison Keys [6] v Laura Siegemund H2H & Match Fundamentals

It was a much more comfortable performance from Madison Keys as the Australian Open champion took care of business against Olga Danilovic. Given the amount of upsets we have seen at this year’s Wimbledon, Keys will be relieved to be in the third round as her track record at Wimbledon isn’t the best. However, the American is playing some of the best tennis of her career this year and will be looking to change her form at SW19 by going all the way this year to claim her second Grand Slam title.
A tough assignment awaits Keys though in the form of crafty German Laura Siegemund. At 37 years of age, Siegemund is still proving to be a tricky player to play against as she knocked out former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez to reach the third round at Wimbledon for the first time in her career. It is surprising that it is Siegemund’s first time in the third round at SW19 given her game full of slice and competent net skills being a perfect skillset for grass. Now Siegemund will look to rise to the occasion and cause another upset in this unpredictable draw.
Keys will look to use the wide serve to draw Siegemund out of position as she will look to do damage with the forehand. Meanwhile Siegemund will use the slice to extract errors from Keys as well as finishing points off at the net. This is a match that is expected to go all the way as Siegemund has the experience and quality to frustrate Keys. However, the American is a different player this year and should have the patience, maturity and power to survive a tough day at the office.
Prediction: Keys in three sets.

Andrey Rublev [14] v Adrian Mannarino [Q] H2H & Match Fundamentals
| Andrey Rublev [14] v Adrian Mannarino [Q] | H2H: Rublev leads 3-1 |

It’s been a rough year for Andrey Rublev but the 14th seed may have found his footing once again. A big win over Lloyd Harris who always enjoys playing on the grass may kickstart Rublev’s season in a big way. Despite having coaching inconsistency and off-court problems, Rublev has always had the potential to do big things in big tournaments and now the 14th seed will aim to do that once again by moving into the second week of Wimbledon.
However, a massive challenge awaits in the form of grass court specialist Adrian Mannarino who always plays well at this time of year. The Frenchman has recorded some big wins in the past and is now back into the Wimbledon main draw as a qualifier. The slice and dice game of Mannarino mixed with efficiency at the net has proven to be a deadly combination in the past and Mannarino will now aim to bring that chaos to this year’s Wimbledon by producing another upset.
Rublev will use the forehand to pin Mannarino behind the baseline as the 14th seed will need to serve well in this match. Meanwhile, Mannarino will use the backhand to create difficult angles while using the dropshot to catch Rublev off guard. This will be a difficult match for Rublev and it wouldn’t be surprising if Mannarino’s chaotic game style caused Rublev’s game to self-destruct.
Prediction: Mannarino in four sets.
