Carlos Alcaraz [3] v Lorenzo Musetti [8] | H2H: Alcaraz leads 4-1
After suffering an injury just before Madrid, there were doubts over how Carlos Alcaraz was going to continue his incredible start to the clay court season. However, the Spaniard has answered those doubts emphatically as he will now regain his place at number two in the world and is on the brink of a first Rome final. Standing in Alcaraz’s way is the in-form Lorenzo Musetti with the Italian producing another impressive tournament which was highlighted with his quarter-final win over defending champion Alexander Zverev.

It was an incredible start to the clay court season for Alcaraz but many thought an injury before Madrid would derail his progress ahead of his Roland Garros title defence.
However, that has proven not to be the case with Alcaraz producing another impressive week and will now look to reach a first Rome final.
Standing in Alcaraz’s way will be the in-form Musetti who continues to produce consistently good form over this clay court season.
The Italian will not want to stop here though as he targets revenge for the Monte-Carlo final and sets his sights on a historic place in the final on home soil.
After his win over British number one Jack Draper, Alcaraz reflected on his clay court season so far and believes his win over Draper will give him even more confidence.
“I just feel that I play great tennis on clay,” Alcaraz told the ATP website.
“I started the clay season really well. Obviously, it was sad that I got injured after Barcelona, but it’s always difficult to be excited. I’m just excited to keep it going and try to compete as well as I can. I’m just happy to feel the good rhythm, feel the good tennis again here in Rome, and obviously this match has given me a lot of confidence.
“I think that was a really good win today for me, and I’m just really proud about the way I approached the match.”
Meanwhile Musetti praised the home crowd as he targets more success on home soil at the Foro Italico.
“Full crowd, full stadium, and that’s a big advantage,” Musetti claimed to the ATP website.
“All this week there has been incredible support from the fans. I felt the adrenaline and energy from the first point, even if it was not an easy start, but I managed to come back and find a way, and that’s the key of this match.”
Alcaraz will aim to use the forehand to dictate the rallies as he will use the day time conditions to his advantage, rushing Musetti’s baseline game with power and pace.
Meanwhile Musetti will use the angles to stretch Alcaraz’s game as he will need to push Alcaraz behind the baseline as much as possible in order to implement dropshots effectively.
Both players are in sensational form with this expected to be a much better match than the Monte-Carlo final.
However, Alcaraz should have too much consistent quality and efficiency in important moments in what should be a spectacular atmosphere.
Prediction: Alcaraz in three sets.

Jannik Sinner [1] v Tommy Paul [11] | H2H: Sinner leads 3-1
It was one of the best matches of his career as Jannik Sinner only dropped one game in a spectacular 64 minute display against Casper Ruud. The world number one continues to prove why he is the world’s best and Sinner will hope he can maintain that same level as he has Italian Open glory on his mind. Next up for Sinner is Tommy Paul after the American defeated Hubert Hurkacz to reach the semi-finals.

There has been no rust for Sinner with this being his first tournament back since his three month suspension.
The Italian is looking as dominant as he did before his suspension and now Sinner will aim for a first Rome final ahead of Roland Garros.
Next for Sinner will be Paul who has put together an impressive week to reach the semi-finals in Rome.
The American will have huge motivation to produce a groundbreaking result given his poor season so far and will hope he can upset the odds against the superior Sinner.
After his dominant quarter-final win Sinner dismissed talks of ‘perfection’ and said that everything can change quickly in tennis.
“Everything can change in one day. It’s not that one performance can tell everything about my shape now, but I’m very happy,” Sinner explained to the ATP website.
“I think today everything worked very well. I was serving well, also returning well, and moving great on the court. I’m very happy about that and now let’s see what’s coming in the semis.
“I was feeling great on the court today. I think we all saw that. My goal was to try to understand where my level is at this tournament. It raised day by day, so I’m very happy about that.
“The result doesn’t really matter, but I felt today was a very positive sign for me.”
Meanwhile Paul spoke about how the conditions suit his game well as he targets a maiden Masters 1000 final.
“Every time I come here, I feel at home,” Paul stated to the ATP website.
“The courts match up with my game really well. I feel comfortable out here and I’ve been playing some good tennis this week.”
Sinner will aim to serve aggressively as the Italian aims to neutralise Paul’s returning ability.
Meanwhile Paul will need to start aggressively, not allowing the world number one to settle into the match.
If Paul can get off to a fast start then this could be a competitive match but the Italian is still favourite to secure his passage to the final.
Prediction: Sinner in straight sets.
