Playing styles and prediction

The career of Wawrinka is slowly winding down but the Swiss is still continuing to plug away on the tour at 39 years of age. The former finalist built up some confidence by reaching the final of the Aix en Provence before losing a final set tiebreak to Borna Coric. Now Wawrinka will be hoping to record one final win in Paris in what could be his final appearance at Roland Garros.

Fearnley will target Wawrinka’s second serve as he will aim to be aggressive on the forehand. Meanwhile Wawrinka will use the backhand to be aggressive as he will try to make Fearnley move around the court and make the Brit feel as uncomfortable as possible. This will be a tight contest but Fearnley’s quality and conditioning may prove crucial the longer this match goes.

Prediction: Fearnley in four sets.
