Playing Styles and Prediction

A 60th career Masters 1000 final for Djokovic as he continues to break records in tennis after a rejuvenated run in Miami.

After months of trying Djokovic will now look to win a 100th title of his career and join an elite group of tennis to win a century of titles.

Speaking ahead of the final Djokovic reflects on what it would mean to win a century of titles in a sport where he has won everything.

“Ever since I won my 99th, which was the Olympic Games in Paris, I’ve been playing with the prospect of winning the special hundred titles,” Djokovic claimed to the ATP website.

“I played finals of Shanghai. I was close there. Semi-finals of Australia. Then been trying to find that necessary and much-needed level of tennis that will put me in a position to fight for a trophy, a big trophy.

“That’s what I’ve been doing this week. I’ve been very happy with the way I prepared for the tournament, the way I’ve been playing. I haven’t dropped a set. It’s a great opportunity. Let’s see what happens in two days.”

The last obstacle in Djokovic’s history bid is 19 year-old Mensik after the Czech Republican won an epic against Fritz to reach his maiden Masters 1000 final.

Now Mensik looks to continue the best week of his life and aims to reach a landmark milestone in his career by becoming one of the youngest ever winners of the Miami Open.

Ahead of the final Mensik described what it will be like facing his childhood idol in the final as he spoke about the influence of Djokovic on his career.

“It feels incredible,” Mensik told the ATP website.

“For me it was a dream to play against him in Shanghai. For now it’s a bit different. I am a better player now and I’m going to enjoy and it’s going to be really exciting. Let’s see what’s going to happen Sunday.”

Djokovic will aim to expose Mensik’s weaker returning stats by producing powerful and dominant serving.

Meanwhile Mensik will continue his incredibly dominant serving by using the wide serve to force errors from Djokovic.

The Serb will start this match as slight favourite due to his experience but if Mensik can produce a high level of play from the start of the match then he could spring a surprise here.

Prediction: Djokovic in three sets.
