A rejuvenated Stefanos Tsitsipas is ready to reintroduce himself on the big stages as he enters Indian Wells with confidence on his side. The eighth seed secured his first title in under a year with victory in Dubai and with a new racket to use, Tsitsipas is playing some secure and aggressive tennis. Now Tsitsipas will be hoping he can continue that confident form in the bigger events as he will have high expectations for the clay court season this year.
A tough third round contest awaits Tsitsipas in the form of Matteo Berrettini who is also in confident mood. The Italian has had some big wins in recent weeks and will be hoping he can continue the momentum after beating Novak Djokovic and Gael Monfils in recent weeks. A big serve and forehand, Berrettini has always had the game to test the best players in the world but will now look to remain healthy in order to maintain his place at the top of the men’s game.
Tsitsipas will use the forehand to move Berrettini around the baseline while finishing points off at the net. Meanwhile, Berrettini will look to neutralise Tsitsipas’ returning as the Italian aims to outpower Tsitsipas in the longer rallies. Their match in Dubai saw Tsitsipas win a classic contest and as long as the world number nine can remain consistently aggressive then the same result should be produced here.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in three sets.
Danielle Collins [14] v Elina Svitolina [23] H2H & Match Fundamentals

Play tennis. Cash checks. Repeat. That is the motto of Danielle Collins as her custom made T-shirts, which proceeds are going to charity, are making more headlines than her tennis. However, the American won’t mind that too much as she aims to replicate from her run from the sunshine double last year after postponing her retirement. However, the question remains as to whether Collins has the stamina and consistency to go on another title run in her home country.
Standing in Collins’ way is Elina Svitolina who is in decent form this season but has yet to replicate her strong standards from last season. The Ukrainian made a positive start to the year by reaching the quarter-finals at the Australian Open before narrowly losing to eventual champion Madison Keys. However, Svitolina has struggled since then but will be hoping to save her best tennis when it matters most as she targets another big run.
Collins will use the backhand to create depth as she looks to force errors from Svitolina. Meanwhile the Ukrainian will need to be aggressive on serve and create angles using the forehand. There should be no surprised faces if this match enters a final set tiebreak with Collins using the crowd and her bold personality to edge through a tight contest.
Prediction: Collins in three sets.

It’s been a turbulent season for Daniil Medvedev as the fifth seed has struggled to find his form and confidence. However the fifth seed has a habit of doing well in America and will sense that he has a real opportunity to prove that he still belongs in the conversation when it comes to winning big titles. The question is does Medvedev have the motivation and quality to produce deep runs at big tournaments?
The next obstacle for Medvedev is talented American Alex Michelsen who has already made an impression at big tournaments. The 20 year-old made the second week of the Australian Open to start the season and has won some decent titles to start his career. However the world number 32 now needs to learn to add consistency to his game and will start that bid at Indian Wells as he looks to add another big win to his collection.
Medvedev will aim to be consistent on return as he looks to build confidence on the forehand to exploit Michelsen’s game. The American will use his big serve and net skills to finish points off efficiently. This will be a good contest and based on current form, Michelsen will be slight favourite to reach the last 16.
Prediction: Michelsen in three sets.
