Playing styles and prediction

It was this time last year that Nardi found his big breakthrough as a lucky loser with the Italian beating Novak Djokovic on his way to the fourth round. Since then Nardi hasn’t really made a big impact although he has the talent and potential to outhit any opponent. Now the Italian will need a big tournament in order to avoid a big rankings drop.

Norrie will aim to produce deep returns as he will need to be aggressive on serve. Meanwhile Nardi will use the backhand to get one step ahead in the rally as he looks to extend the rallies. A change in speed at Indian Wells could work in Norrie’s favour as the Brit needs a big US hard court swing ahead of the clay court season.

Prediction: Norrie in three sets.
