Playing styles and prediction

It hasn’t been a great season for Khachanov so far with the 27 year-old only recording back-to-back wins at one tournament this season which was at the Australian Open. After a tight loss to Daniil Medvedev in Monte-Carlo, Khachanov now aims to kick start his season in Barcelona as he continues preparations towards Roland Garros.

Norrie will need to be aggressive on return as he will extend the rallies and look for winners on the backhand side. Meanwhile Khachanov will use the serve to put Norrie on the backfoot as he looks to open up on the forehand side. This will be a good test for Norrie with both players searching for confidence. Khachanov’s quality may see him through this match but this could be a very scrappy contest.

Prediction: Khachanov in three sets.
