Norrie will continue to be aggressive and clinical on return as he will need to be patient against the consistent Diaz Acosta.

 

 

Playing styles and prediction

Diaz Acosta had a great 2024 season having won an ATP 250 title on home soil in Buenos Aires which was followed by a run to the quarter-finals at the ATP 500 event in Barcelona. However the Argentinian will need to produce exceptional performances if he wants to stay in the top 100 this season and will look to begin that bid in Auckland.

Norrie will look to put pressure on the Argentinian’s serve by using a mixture of power and depth to force errors from Diaz Acosta. Meanwhile Diaz Acosta will test Norrie’s forehand and use depth to force shorter balls from the Brit. This will be a good early test for the Brit but he should come through in straight sets given Diaz Acosta’s poor start to the season.

Prediction: Norrie in straight sets.
