Day four of the Nitto ATP Finals will see a resumption of a fierce rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev in what is their third meeting in this indoor hard court swing.

It was a tough opening set for Sinner in his opening match of the tournament before the Italian stepped up his game to cruise to victory. The second seed is enjoying playing in-front of his home fans as he bids to defend his title in Turin. There is another objective for Sinner in Turin which is to end the year as world number one and will need to rely on some bad results from Carlos Alcaraz to achieve that goal. All Sinner can do for now is be consistent and keep up his incredible winning streak on indoor hard courts as he looks to prove why he is the man to beat on this surface.

A familiar foe awaits Sinner as two of the Italian’s recent victories on indoor hard courts have come against former champion Zverev. The German earned a hard-fought win in his opening match and will now come up against the Australian Open champion for the third time in as many weeks. The first meeting in Vienna saw Sinner edge to a three set victory before the Italian was comfortable in Paris. Now, Zverev will aim to be attacking and proactive as he will need to do something different in order to throw Sinner off his game and spring a surprise in Italy.

Sinner will aim to capitalise on any short second serves as he looks to dictate play with the forehand. Meanwhile, Zverev aims to be aggressive on the first serve while using the backhand to pin the Italian behind the baseline. A tight first set will be produced but Sinner should have enough quality to run away with things in straight sets.

Prediction: Sinner in straight sets.

In the second match of the day, Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime will aim to get a win on the board after their opening match losses.

It was a tough loss for Shelton to take in his Nitto ATP Finals debut against Zverev as he had multiple set points in the second set but couldn’t get over the line. It’s been an incredible season for Shelton as he has reached Grand Slam semi-finals and won Masters 1000 titles as he has broke through inside the world’s top ten. Now, it’s time to see if Shelton has the consistency or stamina to last the distance as he aims for one final push in order to prove he belongs amongst the world’s elite.

Speaking of physical frailties, Auger-Aliassime awaits for Shelton in Turin with the Canadian struggling with a thigh injury before inevitably losing to Sinner. It’s been a turbulent and long season for Auger-Aliassime who has produced a big late season effort to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals with lots to be proud of 2025. There is still more to gain for Auger-Aliassime who will not give up without a fight and will fight for every ball in his bid to reach the semi-finals.

Shelton is aiming to serve aggressively and with purpose as the American will test Auger-Aliassime’s physicality by implementing tight angles. Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime will aim to shorten the rallies and the Canadian will use the backhand to put Shelton on the backfoot. This should be a high-quality contest with Shelton winning the clutch points to get his first ever win at the Nitto ATP Finals.

Prediction: Shelton in three sets.
