WTA Premier Miami: Robson & Raymond advance to Doubles QF

Lisa Raymond/Laura Robson def Tatjana Malek/Tamarine Tanasugarn 4-6, 6-1, 10-8

Laura Robson remains in the doubles in Miami, after she and Lisa Raymond came back from a set down to advance to the quarter final.

The US/UK partnership did not get off to the greatest start, with a double fault to start with on Robson’s serve, and Raymond losing her serve next time around.

Their luck turned, however, breaking Tanasugarn’s serve and with Robson holding her second service game, to keep the deficit to a single break.

However, Raymond’s next service game was broken leaving the pair trailing 2-5.

With Tanasugarn’s serve being broken and another hold for Robson, the pair were hanging on, but with two aces, Malek sealed the first set 6-4.

Raymond and Robson started the second set much stronger, holding both their serves and breaking to lead 3-0.

The wheels seemed to be coming off the German/? Pairing as they were broken to love, and with a Robson consolidation, Malek was now serving to stay in the match.

Raymond took the second set 6-1

Raymond/Robson edged ahead into a 4-1 lead after a double mini-break and stayed ahead, amassing 3 match points.

Although Malek/Tanasugarn whittled that down to just a single point, Raymond/Robson held on to take the match tie-break 10-8.
