WTA Miami: Team “RobMond” Sweep Past World No. 1s for Final Berth

Lisa Raymond/Laura Robson def.  Sara Errani/Roberta Vinci 6-1, 6-2

Wildcard pairing, Lisa Raymond and British No. 2 Laura Robson put the World no. 1 paring, and No. 1 seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci out in the women’s doubles semi-final, in Miami.

It was a dream start for the self-styled “Team Robmond” as they broke the Italian No. 1 seeds in the second game, and held both their own serves.

The teams traded breaks for just a couple of games and with the world no. 1 team yet to hold serve, the UK/UK pairing took the first set 6-1.

Another early break of the Errani/Vinci service game put Raymond/Robson ahead again at the start of the second set.

In almost a mirror of the first set another break of the Italian pair put Raymond/Robson in the position of serving for the match, nailed by Raymond.
