Watson seeded at WTA PTT Pataya Open, Thailand

Heather Watson, now up to a world ranking of 40 after the Australian Open, is the eighth seed at the WTA PTT Pataya Open, Thailand (WTA International Event).

She is scheduled to play on Tuesday 29th January against Hungarian Timea Babos.

Babos is ranked 79 in singles and the pair have never met before on the tour.

Babos was fellow Brit Laura Robson’s partner in doubles at the recent Australian, with the pair going out in the first round.

Robson also goes up in the rankings after her third round appearance in Melbourne, with a ranking of 43.

Watson and her Australian Open doubles partner Marina Erakovic are also the second seeds in the doubles draw.
