[1] Kristyna Pliskova

While her twin is playing in Wuhan, the other Pliskova returns to defend her title in Tashkent. Last year it marked a spur of solid performances at the end of the year, first winning the WTA $125k in Dalian and backing it up with a tour level title here in Tashkent.

Her forays in Tokyo (international) and Seoul were both pretty short-lived so she will be hoping that a return to Europe will reap better rewards.

Babos started the post US Open swing well with a run to the final in Quebec City, but has only played here once before in 2013, and did not make it past the first round.

With a fair mix of ITF and tour level events, the German makes her debut in Tashkent, looking for a few wins after making the semi-finals in Quebec. And she has not had back to back wins in a main draw since winning the title in Bucharest in July.

 

[4] Irina-Camelia Begu

It has been a bit of a backwards slide for the Romanian since hitting a career high last year of No. 22. Her best results this year have been on the clay
