Playing Styles & Prediction

Raducanu will take a lot of confidence over her trials and tribulations in France at the weekend, having fought tooth and nail to get Great Britain over the line to reach the Billie Jean King Cup finals later this year.

She returns to Stuttgart and it was at this stage last year that she closed down her season for an eight-month injury lay-off. Stuttgart clay is slick so the injury-prone Raducanu will still need to literally watch her step.

Kerber was with the German team in Brazil for their clash, but did not play, so she will be taking to the court for the first time since being bounced out of Miami in the first round. Her return to the tour has been up and down with her strongest showing being at Indian Wells, where she reached the fourth round.

Kerber will be a tenacious opener for Raducanu. Her ability to get balls back will test Raducanu’s movement, and this will be another scrap for the Brit.

Prediction: Kerber in three sets.
