Emma Raducanu admitted that she might have made a mistake in not playing as many of the US hard court tournaments in the lead up to the US Open but has stacked her end of season for the Asian swing. She faces top seed Daria Kasatkina.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Although neither player had a remarkable summer on the hard courts, technically Raducanu’s run to the quarter-final was the better performance of the two. Raducanu also gets the benefit of an extra match under her belt as Kasatkina had a bye into the second round. Poor weather means they will have to play twice.

The year has been steady but not spectacular for Kasatkina, but she holds a dominant advantage in her head-to-head over Raducanu. The Brit had to battle to make it into the quarter-final with seven match-points but has enjoyed something of a resurgence this year and is now back in the top 100.

Prediction: Kasatkina in three sets.
