It has been an outstanding run for Boulter, and she is facing one of the more steady players this season and while they are relatively closely matched, it will take an effort for Boulter to add to her title haul.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Boulter has met every challenge that San Diego has had to throw at her, including second seed Beatriz Haddad Maia, seventh seed Donna Vekic and the third seed Emma Navarro, so the sixth seed Kostyuk should not be seen as any more of a challenge.

Kostyuk downed Pegula having to come from 1-5 down in the first set before rounding out a straight sets win, and so also will have her confidence up, and this is a final that could really go either way.

The Ukrainian has had a solid season, reaching the quarter-finals in Adelaide and the Australian Open, and will be no pushover. Boulter can treat this as a free hit, as she comes in as the slight underdog, and whatever happens, she will catapult up the rankings.

Prediction: Boulter in three sets.
