Overall Service Points Won % 58.2 61.1

Raducanu’s return stats continue to trail more consistent players but she has been more effective than Gauff in terms of converting her break point chances and saving those against her, but Gauff’s more consistent year so far puts her ahead.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Gauff has not necessarily had the easiest path on Rome – where she has reached the semi-final twice. She had to come from a set down in her opener, and was put to the test in the first set against Magda Linette.

Raducanu has had spells of consistency that have helped her maintain her position in the rankings with her best before this week being a quarter-final in Miami. Moreover she has had to battle her way out of tricky situations, coming from a set down twice this tournament.

We will see some heavy hitting and athleticism from two of the sharpest young players in the game, but for all Gauff’s challenges on the slower clay of Rome this week, she starts as the undoubted favourite, and Raducanu would do well if she can take a set off the fourth seed.

Prediction: Gauff in three sets.
