Emma Raducanu [10] v Bianca Andreescu [SR] | H2H: First Meeting

Between Emma Raducanu getting more and more used to the slippery clay (yes, still with the odd injury niggle along the way) and Bianca Andreescu remaining in one piece long enough to get a string of clay court matches under her belt, we could be in for a cracking match if they both are fit, healthy and can bring their A-game.

Raducanu has found a way to puzzle things out on the clay, but what is impressive is that Andreescu has been more efficient in saving break points having played one match less than Raducanu.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Pray for the little yellow fluffy balls as two aggressive players will line up to batter the covers off the balls. The clay in Rome is heavier than the zippy altitude in Madrid but on balance Andreescu possesses a little more variety than Raducanu, and that can cause her opponents to lose their rhythm.

If there is one thing that Raducanu has excelled at, it is grinding out a win, but the experience of Andreescu, despite her prolonged injury absences. On the subject of injuries another small niggle for Raducanu dos not bode well for her first match on the claggier clay.

Prediction: Andreescu in three sets.
