Harriet Dart def. Camila Giorgi [3] 5-7 6-4 7-6(3)
It was always going to be a tough battle for Harriet Dart over an equally aggressive opponent in Camila Giorgi. The Italian third seed had been tested in the first set, having to come from an early break down before breaking Dart back, and then again to take the first set.
With weather conditions closing in, Dart broke at the end of a competitive second set, befre serving out to love to level things up, before the match was suspended to be continued the following day.
On the resumption it was another tight set with no break points until the tenth game, woth Giorgi looking to break for the match. Dart saved three set points in the longest game of the set, hanging on to force the tie-break. Two mini-breaks to Dart were all it took to wrap up her highest ranked win as she makes a WTA Tour-level quarter-final for the first time.
“I can’t quite believe it, saving those three match points. I really have to thank the crowd because they got me through that. This is my first quarter-final, so for it to be at a home tournament is special,” she said after the match.

Playing Styles and Prediction
It will be another hard-hitting battle for Dart as she takes on the vastly experienced Alison Riske. The American will look to take the ball early, stripping time away from Dart and she is a steady player in terms of temperament. By her own admission she sees herself as an aggressive all-court player.
Dart faces another up-hill task but will have a home-crowd behind her once more. She certainly can push Riske hard, and we have seen with her run in Indian Wells that when things are clicking, she can get the results.
Prediction: Riske in three sets.
