H2H: Katie Boulter (WR 76) Rebecca Marino (WR 90)
Tournament Previous Best R1 (2018) R16 (2021)
1st Serve Return Points Won % 42.4 35.2
Return Points Won % 47.8 40.8
Break Point Conversion % 50.5 37.0
Break Points Saved % 50.0 53.3
Total Points Won % 53.8 50.5

While there is not much to separate them in the rankings, Boulter leads in all but one stat when it comes to saving break points but will look to be sharper on returns to make the difference.

Preview & Prediction

Boulter has been happy to play on the big stages, and against a home-crowd favourite to close the first day of man draw proceedings, it won’t come much bigger than this. Marino has had a decent record here in the past, and while she has slipped down the rankings, and her best result this season was the quarter-final in Birmingham.

Boulter has had a tougher battle this time around to reach the main draw than on her debut five years ago and is arguably a very different player this time around. Both have capable serves, and back it up with solid forehands, so expect a match where the cvers of the ball get beaten off.

Prediction: Boulter in three sets.
