Heather Watson arrives with plenty of action in the tour under her belt but has yet to pick up a back-to-back win. Nina Stojanovic has picked up a couple of main draw wins this season and comes in sharp as a tack after two rounds of qualification.
The stats do not make promising reading for the British No. 2. On her day she can be right up with these stats but they do reflect a quiet start to the year.

Watson’s strength is that she can defend as well as attack, and she may well need all of that to hand when she encounters the more aggressive style of play that Stojanovic brings to the court.
She will need to ply her court craft but above all else sharpen up some areas of her game. Watson could do with being really quick off the mark and not letting the qualifier feel too comfortable.
This is not a great match-up at all for the Brit, who tends to be a real confidence player – she is a little short on that now, but a solid win would go some way to getting that back on track. She got caught on the hop by a pumped-up Harriet Dart and admitted it just was not a great day at the office for her in Monterrey.
