Playing Styles & Prediction

Raducanu has had her fair share of challenges already this year, only winning one match in her last five since reaching the third round of the Australian Open. She has also had the distress of dealing with a stalker in Dubai – so a solid hard court spring would have been ideal but she was ousted in the Indian Wells Opener.

Her opponent has been putting in her time on the ITF circuit but has yet to claim a main tour first round win but can feel this is a free swing.

Ishii has claimed some scalps in the past, beating Clara Tauson en route to the quarter-final in the Tokyo WTA 500 event, so she knows she has the game to take to higher ranked players. Raducanu will remain the favourite and would do well to kick start her season here.

Prediction: Raducanu in three sets.
