British No. 1 Emma Raducanu looks in fine form to back up her run to the Stuttgart quarter-final as she breezed into the third round easing past Marta Kostyuk in straight sets. It has been no secret that Kostyuk has struggled for form, especially in recent months following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
She was on the backfoot immediately in the first set, broken at the start and end. As Raducanu embarked on a run of seven games on the trot before Kostyuk stopped the rot, but that would be the only time she got a game on the board in the second set.

Raducanu’s stats are made more impressive by the fact she has played less on clay this year than her opponent, but Anhelina Kalinina was a very deserved winner against Garbine Muguruza to get here, and is certainly not to be underestimated.
Playing Styles & Prediction
Big names over the other side of the net meant nothing to Kalinina, who brushed aside Muguruza and Sloane Stephens to get here, while Raducanu has dished out a little revenge to Kostyuk who inflicted one of the Brit’s early defeats after her landmark win at the US Open.
Kalinina has been making huge strides herself up the rankings and plays a smart, thoughtful game out there. Last year, clay was the surface that helped propel the Ukrainian into the Top 100, so against a virtual novice like Raducanu, the Brit will have to really dig deep to come out on top.
Prediction: Raducanu in three sets.
