Match on match, Emma Raducanu is looking stronger, although there were still troubling signs that her wrist as bothering her with a medical time-out to get it strapped, but perhaps more alarming was the complete discombobulation and collapse of Magda Linette after a dominant start.

The Pole raced out to a 4-1 lead but little by little Raducanu worked her way back in the match, breaking Linette back twice, before getting broken to love while trying to serve out for the set. Raducanu quickly regrouped to stride ahead in the tie-break.

Linette’s game seemed to break down on all levels as this time it was Raducanu who jumped out to a similar 4-1 lead, before comfortably closing out another straight sets win.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Raducanu looked less gassed in her second-round match as she continues to build up some match-play after tonsillitis disrupted her preparations for recent tournaments. However, she was bothered still by pain in her wrist, and will not want to get herself dragged into a three setter.

She will face determined game of Haddad Maia, who will look to dominate with her serve and forehand, as well as charge the net.

Raducanu also plays a more offensive game, looking to take time away from her opponents by taking the ball early but again it will come down to how much stamina Raducanu has in the tank, as she will need to be capable of moving all around the court. Also, she typically does play from the baseline, Raducanu is capable at the net.

Again, this could be a straight sets victory but should Haddad Maia push this out to a decider, Raducanu could struggle.

Prediction: Haddad Maia in three sets.
