Emma Raducanu is playing in only her fourth tournament of the year, having struggled with injuries over the year – a hand blister in Australia and most recently a left hip injury in Guadalajara. She faces Caroline Garcia, who is enjoying an uptick in her form.

Playing Styles & Prediction
It could be quite gruelling for both players in the slower conditions of Indian Wells, with Garcia hitting powerful and consistent groundstrokes and when her serves are in order, she can be quite formidable. Her doubles experience means she moves well around the court. Aggression will meet aggression in Raducanu who likes to take the ball on the rise and can give Garcia a run for her money in terms of her court coverage.
If both players are at their A-game, this could be a great opener for Raducanu – who needs some results and a sustained period of injury-free play.
