Harriet Dart has claimed some very solid scalps by the seaside this week, bounding Marie Bouzkova and Sofia Kenin to reach a sixth career quarter-final. Even better, she goes into a home quarter-final with a 1-0 lead over Canada’s Leylah Fernandez, having beaten her on her home soil in Montreal in 2021.

Fernandez has advanced past the second round on the green stuff twice in a row this year, for the first time in her career, but the former US Open finalist has had a pretty torrid year and seems to be finding her feet again.

Her experience and ranking will give her a slight edge, but the crowd will be willing Dart on.

Prediction: Dart in three sets.

Katie Boulter has been excelling on the Eastbourne grass this week. Having successfully defended her title in Nottingham, she repeated last year’s first round bounce out of Birmingham, but seems to be back on form this week.

Her win over former champion Jelena Ostapenko puts her in her first Eastbourne quarter-final where she will face Roland Garros finalist Jasmine Paolini who does not have the best record on grass. She advanced with Elise Merten’s retirement and this is her first outing on the grass, so will come in very match-shy.

Prediction: Boulter in three sets.

Emma Raducanu [WC] v Daria Kasatkina [6] | H2H & Match Fundamentals

Emma Raducanu came from match point down against the Berlin champion Jessica Pegula to claim her biggest win in terms of ranking. Raducanu seems to be relishing her debut on the coast. But the challenge is about to get tougher as she faces last year’s finalist, Daria Kasatkina.

Raducanu did look at times that she was struggling against Pegula, and will need a lot of sticking power if she wants to take on the engaging Russian, who had to deal with the double-fault yips to reach the quarter-final.

Prediction: Kasatkina in three sets.
