Raducanu has had a little more match-time on court, and leads the more highly ranked Kalinina in the stats, and should take confidence from the fight she has shown this year.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Raducanu will look to capitalise on any wildcards, and getting into the WTA 1000 event on Doha is a free hit for the Brit. She has yet to strng together any back to back wins this season, but the most encouraging thing is that she is stll in one piece and functioning which, after an eight month break, feels like a win.

She will face an opponent who is in a similar position in terms of a slow start to the year. Kalinina scored her first win of the season in Abu Dhabi and will be looking for a little confidence of her own. She did get the better of Raducanu on the speedy clay of Madrid, where they battled over three sets and this may well be another long drawn out affair.

Prediction: Raducanu in three sets.
