CLUJ-NAPOCA, ROMANIA – Harriet Dart breezed past Oceane Dodin and will face Anna Bondar in the second round.

A reshuffled draw and facing lucky loser Oceane Dodin suited Harriet Dart well. The British number two struck early in the first set and had to deflect four break points but rode out the storm to speed through the first set.

However, pedal to the metal does not even begin to describe the second set. Having had to save another break point in the first game, Dart stormed through the rest of the set, as it seemed Dodin was just rueing her lost chances. Meanwhile Dart will face eighth seed Anna Bondar in the second round.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Most of Bondar’s successes has come on clay courts over this season with five semi-finals alone this season, and a run to the Lyon quarter-final earlier this year actually being her best hard court result this year.

Higher-ranked, there is plenty of scope for Dart to claim another scalp here, if she can continue to play her dominate game, dictating pace and driving her opponent back.

Prediction: Dart in three sets.
