Heather Watson [7] v Kateryna Bondarenko | H2H tied at 2-2
British No. 2 Heather Watson came through a tough opening match against Coco Vandeweghe, coming from a set down for the fourth time this year to clinch the win. She earns a fifth match-up with Kateryna Bondarenko where the pair are evenly matched with a couple of wins each, and Watson currently on a two-match winning streak against the Ukrainian.
Bondarenko picked up her first win since her opening tournament of the year in Shenzhen, where she reached the quarter-final.
Watson has been enjoying her tennis and started the year well, and moreover has been able to mix a more aggressive style of tennis with her ability to play more defensively and patiently, which has stood her in good stead.
Prediction: Watson in three sets.

Katie Boulter v Zhu Lin [6] | First meeting
It was a similar battle in her opener for Katie Boulter, who found herself facing a lucky loser in Francesca Di Lorenzo. She too had to come from a set down to face the American, who was the highest ranked player she has beaten this year.
Zhu Lin has a lot of agility around the court and is solid at the net. Boulter will expect to see her strong serving coming back with pace, which might actually suit the aggressive style of the Brit but she may well be made to work hard for her points.
Boulter relies on getting round her forehand but she can struggle if it is not firing on all cylinders it can cause problems. Her confidence should be high with some solid results at the ITF level and a hard fought first main draw win in 2020.
Zhu started she season with the final of the Hong Kong ITF tournament, but since then has not had any back to back wins but experience might get her over the line.
Prediction: Lin in straight sets.
