Round One Round Two
Andrey Rublev [6] Hubert Hurkacz [7]
Felix Auger-Aliassime [17] Casper Ruud [8]
Sebastian Baez [18] Stefanos Tsitsipas [11]
Nicolas Jarry [19] Karen Khachanov [21]
Sebastian Korda [20] Tallon Griekspoor [27]
Adrian Mannarino [22] Jack Draper [28]
Francisco Cerundolo [26] Tomas Martin Etcheverry [30]
Mariano Navone [31]

It’s been a chaotic draw on the men’s side so far with 15 of the 32 seeds crashing out so far with the biggest seed to exit so far has been sixth seed Andrey Rublev. Rublev’s bad form this season continued with a first round exit to Francisco Comesana as the draw opened up for Alexander Zverev.

That wasn’t the only seed to crash out in Zverev’s section of the draw as in-form players such as Sebastian Korda and Jack Draper crashed out to tough opposition. Probably the biggest name to exit this section of the draw though is Stefanos Tsitsipas as the eleventh seed continues to disappoint at Wimbledon, losing to Emil Ruusuvuori.

Following Rublev and Tsitsipas out of the draw have been big seeds such as Hubert Hurkacz and Casper Ruud. Hurkacz retired at match point down to Arthur Fils in the second round as he faces a race against time to be fit for the Olympics. The Pole’s exit has provided Novak Djokovic with further belief that he can go all the way at Wimbledon with the Serb aiming to overcome a knee injury in order to win an eighth title at SW19.

Not only Hurkacz but there have been exits for Felix Auger-Aliassime, Francisco Cerundolo, Karen Khachanov and Tomas Martin Etcheverry in Djokovic’s section as Auger-Aliassime and Khachanov have continued their shaky form at Grand Slams. As for Ruud, the Norwegian’s exit comes as very little surprise as he has yet to master grass courts while also suffering a big illness before the event.

Other noticeable exits include Tallon Griekspoor who was beaten by Miomir Kecmanovic and will now be one less danger to Jannik Sinner’s chances of a maiden Wimbledon title as well as Adrian Mannarino’s exit to Gael Monfils with Mannarino being lacklustre on grass this season. Now with 15 seeds out of the tournament, the question is what lies ahead for the other 17 seeds for the rest of the event?

Round One Round Two
Aryna Sabalenka [3] – Withdrew Jessica Pegula [5]
Marketa Vondrousova [6] Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova [25]
Qinwen Zheng [8] Linda Noskova [26]
Victoria Azarenka [16] – Withdrew Katerina Siniakova [27]
Ekaterina Alexandrova [22] – Withdrew Leylah Fernandez [30]
Mirra Andreeva [24] Katie Boulter [32]
Sorana Cirstea [29]

The bottom half of the draw is wide open after a number of withdrawals and big upsets. It started with the withdrawal of world number three Aryna Sabalenka as she withdrew due to a shoulder injury. The Australian Open champion was soon followed by Ekaterina Alexandrova and Victoria Azarenka as illness and injuries forced them out of the tournament.

That would be followed by the most significant withdrawal in the form of defending champion Marketa Vondrousova who became the first defending champion to lose in the first round since Steffi Graf. Injuries played a part for Vondrousova in her devastating defeat to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. There were also shock losses for Qinwen Zheng, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Mirra Andreeva that blew the draw wide open.

The top half of the draw has been less chaotic although some in-form players have crashed out before the third round. Berlin champion Jessica Pegula suffered a shock exit in the draw while Nottingham champion Katie Boulter lost in a last set tiebreak to Harriet Dart. As well as these results Eastbourne finalist Leylah Fernandez lost a thrilling match to Caroline Wozniacki.

This is a women’s draw that has showed that form means nothing as another different winner is likely to win the event again this year but the question is who can capitalize on a big opportunity.
