Evans lack of efficiency on serve has been the problem this season as he has lacked belief in his game at times but the same can’t be said for the Frenchman who has dramatically improved his game on serve.

Halys has had a consistent season and deserves credit for the hard work that he has put into improving his serve which has elevated his results this season. After a tricky build-up for Roland Garros, the Frenchman may have found his form after winning a clay court challenger last week. Now Halys will look to take his big serving game onto grass as he aims for a deep run at Wimbledon.

Evans will need to protect his serve as aggressively as possible as he will look to neutralise Halys’ big baseline game by using angles. Meanwhile the Frenchman will look to make a high percentage of first serves as he will look to dominate on serve and try to remain as patient as possible on return as he looks to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. This will be a tough match for Evans but a best of five set format may be the perfect way for Evans to build up his game as long as he doesn’t rush the tempo of the match.

Prediction: Evans in five sets.
