LONDON, ENGLAND – Iga Swiatek is looking to extend her 35 match winning streak at SW19 but will face a tough set of challengers including 23-time grand slam champion Serena Williams.

[1] Iga Swiatek
Best Result: Fourth Round (2021)
The world number one has a 35 match winning streak after winning her sixth consecutive WTA title at Roland Garros and will now look to win her third grand slam title at the scene where she won the Juniors title three years ago.
Swiatek’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)
- R1: Jana Fett [Q] | First Meeting
- R2: Danka Kovinic | Swiatek leads 1-0
- R3: Yulia Putintseva [27] | H2H: Swiatek leads 1-0
- R4: Barbora Krejcikova [13] | H2H: Swiatek leads 2-0
- QF: Jessica Pegula [8] | H2H: Swiatek leads 2-1
- SF: Paula Badosa [4] | H2H: Tied at 1-1
- F: Anett Kontaveit [2] | H2H: Swiatek leads 3-2
A comfortable opening week for the Pole is followed by some potentially tricky second week contenders. If the likes of Barbora Krejcikova and Garbine Muguruza can find some form then the latter stages could be a test and there is also the wildcard factor of Serena Williams in the other quarter that could prove interesting. Swiatek has proved in the past she can play well on this surface and the Pole is the best-placed to win at SW19 and has the chance to prove that over the next fortnight.
[2] Anett Kontaveit
Best Results: Third Round (2017, 2018, 2019)
The Estonian has struggled for consistency and fitness in recent months but has proven that on faster surfaces she can be tough to beat.
Kontaveit’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)
- R1: Bernarda Pera | H2H: First Meeting
- R2: Jule Niemeier | H2H: First Meeting
- R3: Anhelina Kalinina [29] | H2H: Kontaveit leads 1-0
- R4: Belinda Bencic [14] | H2H: Kontaveit leads 3-0
- QF: Maria Sakkari [15] | H2H: Kontaveit leads 7-6
- SF: Ons Jabeur [3] | H2H: Tied at 3-3
- F: Iga Swiatek [1] | H2H: Swiatek leads 3-3
A tough draw awaits Kontaveit especially considering Kontaveit hasn’t played much tennis in the last couple of months due to illness. Anhelina Kalinina and Belinda Bencic have shown good form on this surface and can outpower any player on their day. The bottom half of the draw sees a lot of players that feel comfortable on grass and without match practice, hard to see how Kontaveit makes a real impact in this draw but if Kontaveit plays at her best level then you never know.
[3] Ons Jabeur
Best Result: Quarter-Finals (2021)
After an unexpected early exit at Roland Garros, Jabeur is looking to find her form back on her favourite surface and make a surge to a maiden grand slam title.
Jabeur’s Path to the Final (Ranking/Seeding)
- R1: Mirjam Bjorklund [Q] | H2H: First Meeting
- R2: Rebecca Marino | First Meeting
- R3: Kaia Kanepi [31] | H2H: Jabeur leads 3-0
- R4: Angelique Kerber [15] | H2H: Kerber leads 1-0
- QF: Danielle Collins [7] | H2H: Collins leads 2-1
- SF: Anett Kontaveit [2] | H2H: Tied at 3-3
- F: Iga Swiatek [1] | H2H: Tied at 2-2
Jabeur has a decent draw in total but there are a few matches that could prove tricky with grand slam giant-killer Kaia Kanepi, former champion Angelique Kerber and Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins all awaiting in the vital rounds of the tournament. Overall Jabeur is the best-placed to challenge Swiatek in the final but will need to win some tough matches if she wants to have a chance of lifting her first grand slam title.
[4] Paula Badosa
Best Result: Fourth Round (2021)
Badosa has struggled to bring her best tennis lately but will be hoping to find her form at SW19 as she looks to reach a second grand slam quarter-final.
Badosa’s Path to the Final
- R1: Louisa Chrico [Q] | First Meeting
- R2: Chloe Paquet | H2H: Paquet leads 1-0
- R3: Petra Kvitova [25] | H2H: Kvitova leads 1-0
- R4: Simona Halep [16] | H2H: Halep leads 1-0
- QF: Karolina Pliskova [6] | H2H: Pliskova leads 2-0
- SF: Iga Swiatek [1] | H2H: Tied at 1-1
- F: Anett Kontaveit [2] | H2H: Kontaveit leads 1-0
Badosa is definitely the draw loser with dangerous opponents and former champions such as Petra Kvitova, Simona Halep and not to mention Serena Williams in this quarter of the draw, this makes Badosa a certainty to go out in the first week if she plays at her current level. If Badosa can somehow manage her power and defensive consistency again then she could be a surprise package and possibly trouble some of the better players on this surface and go deep at SW19.
Wimbledon takes place from the 27 June to 10 July.
