H2H: Emma Raducanu (WR 11) Alison Van Uytvanck (WR 46)
Tournament Previous Best R4 (2021) R4 (2018)
1st Serve Return Points Won % 46.7 38.8
Return Points Won % 54.5 44.6
Break Point Conversion % 40 52.9
Break Points Saved % 25 66.7
Total Points Won % 46.5 54.3

Although given Emma Raducanu’s scant season so far, in general and on the grass, she has proved to be a more superior returner than Alison Van Uytvanck. However, it is quite telling that Raducanu’s inconsistency over the season in converting and saving break point chances is a real low-point in this stats comparison – and a worry.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Van Uytvanck is a tough first round for Raducanu. She has a powerful first serve and like Raducanu, she plays an aggressive baseline game, but she is also adept in coming to the net. Raducanu will have to find ways to nullify the Belgian’s forehand.

The Brit likes to take the ball on the rise, and we will need to see how that injury holds up when she goes for her signature backhand down the line. They both have good movement and footwork, and Raducanu is also quite capable at the net.

But Raducanu has played (and not even completed) one match on the grass while the Belgian is 7-2 this year on the green stuff. She will come into form, while all eyes will be on Raducanu to see if she is fit enough to go toe-to-toe with the Belgian.

Prediction: Raducanu in three sets.
