After a tough opening round against Jan-Lennard Struff, Carlos Alcaraz is starting to find his feet on grass as he looks ahead to his third round clash at Wimbledon. Alcaraz has already proven he has the game to go deep on hard and clay courts but now looks to prove himself on the grass courts. The Spaniard will believe that if he can bring his A game to SW19 then he will become a contender to lift the trophy a week on Sunday.

Before the final Alcaraz has to firstly get past tricky German Oscar Otte who’s big serve and volley caused Andy Murray problems last year. Since then Otte has secured a fast rise up the rankings proving he is a mainstay top 50 player and has now ensured that by being seeded for a grand slam. Otte has already beaten Denis Shapovalov and Karen Khachanov this grass court swing and looks to add another name to his list.

This will be the ultimate test for Alcaraz to see if the Spaniard has the credentials to be a contender for the title as he is going up against a complete grass court player. This match could go all the way and Otte has the type of game to cause Alcaraz problems so it would be no surprise to see the German pull of the upset.

Prediction: Otte in four sets.

Ons Jabeur has hit the ground running and seems to be determined to win her first grand slam title at Wimbledon this year. The Tunisian won Berlin heading into SW19 and now that Anett Kontaveit is out, she is the highest remaining seed in the bottom half of the draw. Now Jabeur looks to prove that she is not fazed by the pressure and expectation on her shoulders and back up her form to reach the final a week on Saturday.

Next up for Jabeur is Diane Parry who came into Wimbledon with some challenger form on grass. Parry is a talented player with power and finesse and knocked out Barbora Krejcikova at Roland Garros this year, so isn’t fazed by the big stage. At just 19 years old Parry is making a name for herself and now looks to cause another upset on grass.

Parry is capable of out-hitting any player but Jabeur’s variety, athleticism and defensive neutrality should be too strong for the teenager. The Tunisian is on a mission to win her first grand slam title and that mission won’t end here.

Prediction: Jabeur in three sets.

Frances Tiafoe loves this time of year and will look to build on his big win over Stefanos Tsitsipas after last year’s edition. However the grass court season hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far for the American and he will look to change that at SW19 with a winnable draw, he may see this as an opportunity of a lifetime.

Next for Tiafoe is another player who loves the grass in Alexander Bublik, who Tiafoe lost to in Eastbourne last week. Bublik has a big serve, charismatic personality and a wide range of shot selection to match. Again having not had the highest level of results on grass so far this season, the Kazakh may feel he has a point to prove and there is no better way of doing that then by having a deep run at Wimbledon.

This will be a match defined by quality and making the right decisions at the right time. The serve will be the key factor in this match and Bublik’s overall unpredictability gives him the slight edge. Whatever happens one thing is guaranteed and that is entertainment.

Prediction: Bublik in four sets.
