Jodie Burrage was one of the most in-form players during the domestic restart, after an injury=struck career. Since then she has had a smattering of tour and ITF action, but has been without a win since April. Davis started the year well, but tailed off a little before locking into some solid grass form in Nottingham, where she dismissed both Harriet Dart and Katie Boulter on her way to the semi-finals.

What Lauren Davis lacks in height she makes up for in tenacity and speed around the court. Burrage has a decent serve and backhand and when she gets on a roll she can be dangerous.

Prediction: Davis in straight sets

Katie Boulter has had a long way back after a battle with injuries, and while she was making solid progress in Nottingham, injury reared its head once more as her elbow saw her retire in her quarter-final against Davis. The heavy striking Brit has a big first serve but sometimes tends to rely on searching for an equally powerful forehand, so when it starts to misfirem she can struggle for a Plan B.

Lao has a lot of variety as her forte and can turn defence into a more aggressive game, so this could pose a few issues for the Brit.

Prediction: Boulter in three sets.

Last up of the wildcards is Harriet Dart, who takes on the 13th seed Elise Mertens. Dart has been working hard across the ITF and the tour, but the wildcard pits her against one of the most consistent players on the tour. The early part of the season saw solid runs by Mertens in to the later stages of tournaments, but she did not really translate that too much on the grass.

Although Dart played twice as many matches, she only notched up one win. The Brit plays at pace and with a lot of depth and force which can rock her opponents on their heels.

Mertens can absorb that pace, and can push her opponents around the court, and is comfortable all around the court and so expect her to try and pull Dart to the net.

Prediction: Mertens in three sets.
