FLEURY-LES-AUBRAIS – Lucy Shuker made the singles final and won the doubles title. The Brit didn’t drop a set in the doubles.

Lucy Shuker entered the event in France and was the top seed in the doubles with Dana Mathewson. As a result the Brit/American pair had a bye into the semi-final. Their semi-final was against Ksenia Chasteau & Louise Charlotte Willerslev-Olsen. The top seeds dominated the match from the start to finish. Shuker & Mathewson only lost one game in the whole match and moved into the next round 6-1, 6-0.

In the final Shuker & Mathewson were against second seeds Cornelia Oosthuizen & Angelica Bernal. The top seeds dominated the match again from the outset. The first set saw the Brit/American break easily and soon had the set in the bag. The second was more of the same, as the top seeds only lost one game to claim the title 6-2, 6-1.

The singles saw Shuker again as the top seed. In the first round the Brit was against Annabelle Ribeaud. Shuker dominated the Swiss player from the start. The Brit lost only one game in the entire match to move into the next round 6-0, 6-1.

The quarter-final saw Shuker against her compatriot Oosthuizen. The first set was very close, as both went toe to toe and ended in a tiebreak. The breaker was tight and Shuker edged through to take the lead. Oosthuizen could not make any inroads into the Shuker serve in the second set. The top seed dominated and moved into the semi-final 7-6(6), 6-1.

In the semi-final the top seed was against Pauline Deroulede. Shuker dominated the first set and had no difficulty taking the first set. The second was a little closer, as the French women was able to hold serve more but ultimately the Brit still got through to the final 6-1, 6-3.

The final saw Shuker against her doubles partner Dana Mathewson. The first set saw the Brit broken by the American and it was Mathewson that took the first set. The second was closer and went to a tiebreak, in the breaker the American edged through and took the match 6-3, 7-6(5).

Wheelchair Round Up

Andrew Penney was defeated by Daisuke Aral in the first round in France 6-1, 6-1.

Andrew Penney with Lhaj Boukartcha were defeated by Geoffrey Jasiak & Guilhem Laget in the first round 6-4, 7-6(1).

Ben Bartram was defeated by Daisuke Aral in the semi-final in France 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Ben Bartram with Nicolas Charrier were defeated by Frederic Cattaneo & Gaetan Menguy in the semi-final 6-2, 6-0.
