BOLTON, UK – Andy Lapthorne claims the quads singles title and made the quads doubles final. Gordon Reid completed the double, whilst Lucy Shuker made the singles and doubles final.

Andy Lapthorne was the top seed at the Quads event in Bolton. As a result the Brit received a bye into the next round. In the second round Lapthorne took on fellow Briton Gary Cox. The top seed dominated the match from the outset and had little trouble with his compatriot. Lapthorne lost only one game as he moved into the next round 6-0, 6-1.
In the quarter-final the Brit was against eighth seed Yosi Saadon. The Israeli posed little trouble for the Brit as Lapthorne again dominated the entire match. The Brit once again lost only one game, as he eased through into the next round in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.
The semi-final saw Lapthorne against third seed Ugur Altinel. The Turk was outplayed and outclassed by the Brit who strolled through the match. Lapthorne broke at will and had little trouble with Altinel. The top seed soon had the match under control and didn’t lose a single game to move into the final 6-0, 6-0.
In the final, Lapthorne was against seventh seed Gregory Slade. The first set saw the top seed continue to dominate, although Slade managed to get a couple of games on the board. The second set was slightly closer, as the seventh seed fought hard to try and get back into the match. Ultimately Lapthorne broke serve to take the match 6-2, 6-3.
Quads Doubles
Lapthorne & Slade teamed up together for the doubles and were the second seeds and as a result received a bye in the first round. In the quarter-final the Brits were against the French pair of Thomas Huguenin & Justin Michel. The Brits wasted no time in dominating the match, and in the first set only lost one game. The second set was more of the same, but Huguenin & Michel managed to hold serve twice before the Brits took the match in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
The semi-final saw the Brits drawn against Israeli pair Elay Chayot & Yosi Saadon. However, the unseeded pair didn’t take to the court, and the top seeds progressed to the final 0-0 (RET).
In the final, the Brits were against the tops seeds Tomas Masaryk & Ymanitu Silva. The top seeds dominated the first set, as Lapthorne & Slade were unable to get on the board. The second set though saw the Brits regroup and break to level up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak, the top seeds edged through to lift the trophy 6-0, 3-6, 10-6.
Men’s singles
Gordon Reid was the sixth seed in Bolton and received a bye in the first round. In the second round, Reid was against Frederic Cattaneo. The Frenchman stayed with Reid in the first set, until the Brit managed to break serve and take the lead. The second set followed the same pattern, as Reid broke again to take the win 6-4, 6-4.
The quarter-final saw Reid against fourth seed Maikel Scheffers. The Dutchman got the jump on the Brit as Scheffers secured the break of serve and took the lead. Reid re-grouped in the second set and managed to break Scheffers right at the end of the set to level up the match. The final set saw Reid dominate the Dutchman and move into the next round 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
In the semi-final Reid was against the second seed Martin De la Puente. The Spaniard found the Brit too good, and was clearly struggling. The Brit dominated the first set and took it easily. At this point as De la Puente was unable to continue he conceded the match and Reid moved into the final 6-2 (RET).
The final saw the Brit against third seed Tom Egbrink. The Dutchman was dominated by Reid in the first set, as the Brit sailed through and took the lead. The second set was a little closer as Egbrink managed to hold serve more. However, Reid still overcame the Dutchman and took the title 6-2, 6-3.
Men’s doubles
Reid teamed up with Ben Bartram for the doubles. The Brits were third seeds and received a bye into the quarter-final. Their first opponents were Geoffrey Jasiak & Guilhem Laget. The Frenchmen were no match for the seeds who strolled through the match without dropping a set. Reid & Bartram moved into the next round 6-0, 6-0.
The semi-final saw the Brits against the second seeds Egberink & Scheffers. The Dutchmen dominated the first set as the Brits struggled to find their game. However, in the second set the third seeds broke the second seeds serve and managed to level up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak the Brits edged through into the final 1-6, 6-4, 10-7.
In the final the Brits were against the top seeds Alexander Cataldo & De la Puente. The top seeds were unable to take to the court, and so Reid & Bartram claimed the title 0-0 (RET).
Women’s singles
Lucy Shuker was the top seed at the event in Bolton and received a bye in the first round. The second round saw the Brit against compatriot Abbie Breakwell. The first set was fairly close until Shuker secured the break of serve and took the lead. The second set saw Shuker dominate and move into the next round 6-3, 6-1.
In the quarter-final Shuker was against fifth seed Nalani Buob. The Swiss was no match for the top seed though, as the Brit dominated from the off. In both sets, Shuker broke easily and didn’t have to work too hard to get the win and move into the next round 6-2, 6-2.
The semi-final saw the Brit against sixth seed Maayan Zikri. The Israeli went toe to toe with Shuker and forced a tiebreak. In the breaker, the top seed dominated and took the lead. The second set went much the same way, and again went to a tiebreak, which Zikri edged to level up the match. The final set saw Shuker break the serve of the Israeli and move into the final 7-6(2), 6-7(5), 6-3.
In the final Shuker was against second seed Dana Mathewson. The American got off to the better start and broke the serve of the Brit to take the lead. The second set was dominated by Mathewson as the Brit was unable to hold serve. Mathewson took the title in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.
Women’s Doubles
Shuker teamed up with Cornelia Oosthuizen for the doubles and were the top seeds and received a bye in the first round. The quarter-final saw the top seeds against Mathewson & Maylee Phelps. The Brits dominated from the outset and had very little trouble with the Americans. The top seeds moved into the next round 6-0, 6-2.
In the semi-final Shuker & Oosthuizen were against Ksenia Chasteau & Charlotte Fairbank. The French pair withdrew before taking to the court, so handed the win to the Brits 0-0 (RET).
The final saw the Brits against second seeds Pauline Deroulede & Emmanuelle Morch. The French pair stayed toe to toe with the Brits and forced a tiebreak which they edged. The top seeds re-grouped in the second set and dominated Deroulede & Morch to level the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak it was the second seeds that edged through to lift the title 7-6(4), 2-6, 10-6.
