  • Alfie Hewett & Gordon Reid claimed fifth consecutive French Open title
  • Brits undefeated in doubles at Roland Garros since 2020
  • Ruben Harris made history claim first junior boys doubles
PARIS, FRANCE – Alfie Hewett & Gordon Reid entered the French Open and were the top seeds. The defending champions have been unbeaten since 2020 and claimed their fifth title.

Alfie Hewett & Gordon Reid were the top seeds at Roland Garros. The Brits were aiming to claim their fifth consecutive doubles title at the event. In the first match the Brits were against Dutch pair Tom Egberink & Maikel Scheffers. Hewett & Reid dominated the Dutch pair from the outset. The top seeds barely did anything wrong and lost only two games to move on 6-2, 6-0.

The semi-final saw the top seeds against Gustavo Fernandez & Stephane Houdet. The Argentine/French pair got the jump on the top seeds and broke serve to take the lead. The second set, though, saw Hewett & Reid re-group. The top seeds then dominated to level up the match. In the ensuing match tiebreak, the Brits edged through to book a spot in the final 3-6, 6-2, 10-8.

In the final Hewett & Reid were against the second seeds Takuya Miki & Tokito Oda. The Brits dominated the first set and only lost one game. The second set was a little bit closer. The Japanese pair managed to hold serve more, but eventually, the top seeds broke to lift their fifth consecutive title at Roland Garros 6-1, 6-4.

Inaugural junior boys wheelchair  doubles

Ruben Harris & Maximillian Taucher took part in the first ever junior boys wheelchair doubles event at Roland Garros. The Brit/Austrian were against Yassin Hill & Ivar van Rijt. The Aussie/Dutch pair pushed Harris & Taucher all the way. Harris and Taucher secured the vital break of serve right at the end of the first set to take the lead. The second set was also fairly close. Once again, the Brit/Austrian broke serve to claim the title 7-5, 6-4. Their fifth junior title together.

Wheelchair Round Up

Ruben Harris was defeated by Maximillian Taucher in the first round 7-5, 6-2.

Lucy Shuker was defeated by Wang Ziying in the first round 7-6(4), 6-0.

Lucy Shuker with Angelica Bernal were defeated by Yui Kamiji & Kgothatso Montjane in the first round 6-3, 7-5.

Andy Lapthorne was defeated by Sam Schroeder in the first round 6-1, 6-3.

Gordon Reid was defeated by Alfie Hewett in the quarter-final 6-0, 6-4.

Alfie Hewett was defeated by Gustavo Fernandez in the semi-final 7-5, 6-7(1), 6-2.

Andy Lapthorne with Guy Sasson were defeated by Sam Schroeder & Niels Vink in the final 7-6(9), 6-1.
