PLOCK, POLAND – Ruby Bishop entered the ITF event and was unseeded. The Brit claimed both the singles and doubles titles.

Ruby Bishop entered the ITF event in Plock and was unseeded. The Brit drew Latvian Zanete Vasaraudze-Gailite in the first round. Bishop dominated the first set as the Latvian struggled to hold serve. The Brit had soon claimed the first set. The second set was even better for the Brit, as once again a dominant display secured a spot in the next round 6-2, 6-0.

The semi-final saw Bishop against Diana Nikiforova. The Latvian was the second seed. However, the Brit soon had the measure of Nikiforova and dominated from start to finish. No matter what the seed tried, Bishop was equal to it. The Latvian was unable to get into the match at all, and Bishop moved into the final in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

In the final Bishop was against Marianna Lauro. The Italian was the top seed, but this didn’t stop the Brit from breaking early in the first set to take the lead. The second set saw Lauro re-group and break the Brit to level up the match. The final set saw both players go toe to toe, before eventually Bishop broke Lauro to take the lead. The seed was unable to break back and Bishop took the match 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

In the doubles, Bishop teamed up with Zoya Chavdarova. The Brit/Bulgarian pair dominated Nikiforova & Vasarudze-Gailite in the match against them. The Brit/Bulgarian lost a total of three games against the Latvians to win the match 6-2, 6-1.

They also played against Lauro & Maria Paola Tolu. Bishop & Chavdarova dominated the first set, losing only one game to take the set. The second set though, was much closer. Neither pair could make a breakthrough and the match went to a tiebreak. In the breaker the Brit/Bulgarian edged through to take the win 6-1, 7-6(5).
