Andrew Penney entered the ITF event in Bulle and was the top seed. In the first round the Brit drew Matthias Huerlimann. The Swiss player had nothing to trouble the top seed with in the first set, as Penney broke at will to take the lead. The second set was slightly closer, as Huerlimann managed to hold serve. However, the top seed soon managed to secure the break of serve to move into the next round in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.

The quarter-final saw the top seed against Yoann Quilliou. The Frenchman stayed with the Brit in the first set, before Penney managed to secure the break of serve and take the lead. The second set was a little easier for the top seed, as Penney broke early and took the win in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

In the semi-final the Brit was against fourth seed Ivan Kindt. The Belgian struggled in the first set, as Penney dominated to take the lead. The second set was a little closer. However, the top seed got the vital break of serve as Kindt was unable to stay with him. Penney moved into the final in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.

The final saw the Brit against unseeded Thai Banjob Suwan. The top seed dominated the first set as Suwan struggled to get anything on serve, barely holding serve twice. However, the second set saw the Thai re-group and dominate Penney, who himself struggled with holding serve. The final set though, was all one way traffic as Penney stole a march and didn’t drop a set to lift the singles title 6-2, 2-6, 6-0.

Doubles

Penney teamed up with Quilliou for the doubles and the pair were the top seeds. Their first round match was against Italians Dario Benazzi & Mauro Curioni. The seeds dominated the match from the outset, losing only one game in the entire match. Penney & Quilliou moved into the semi-final 6-1, 6-0.

The semi-final saw the Brit/French pair against Raphael Gremion & Justin Peraux. Once again the top seeds dominated from the start. Penney & Quilliou lost two games in the first set but they didn’t lose anything after that. The top seeds moved into the final in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

In the final the top seeds were against the second seeds Garreth Greene & Kindt. Penney & Quilliou dominated again, as the Irish/Belgian couldn’t get into the match. No matter what the second seeds tried, Penney & Quilliou were equal to it. The top seeds lifted the trophy in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
