Dahnon Ward was the top seed at the Wheelchair Tennis event in Abingdon. The Brit drew Joshua Johns in the first round. Ward totally dominated the first set, as Johns struggled to get into the match. The top seed was soon in control and took the first set with ease. The second set saw Ward dominate again, but Johns managed to hold serve a couple of times, before Ward moved into the next round in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.

The quarter-final saw Ward against Kevin Lewis. Once again the top seed outclassed his opponent. Lewis struggled on serve, but managed to hold once in the first set. The second set saw Ward obliterate Lewis as the top seed broke at will. Lewis tried hard but was unable to get anything in the set. Ward eased through to the next round 6-1, 6-0.

In the semi-final the top seed was against fourth seed American Adil Boutahli. Ward totally dominated the match from the outset. The American struggled to get into the match at all, and the Brit was soon on a roll. Taking the match by the scruff of the neck Ward didn’t drop a game and moved into the final 6-0, 6-0.

The final saw the top seed against the second seed Andrew Penney. Ward was unstoppable as his fellow Brit tried but failed to get into the match. The top seed dominated from the outset, just as he had done for the previous matches. Penney was able to hold serve once before Ward captured the title in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

In the final Ward & Penney were due to face Johns & Andy Lapthorne. The top seeds didn’t strike a ball in anger as Johns & Lapthorne withdrew, handing the top seeds a walkover and the trophy 0-0 (RET).
