Playing styles and prediction

Carballes Baena has had a consistent last few months which have included a Challenger title as well as competitive performances on clay. However when it comes to hard courts, Carballes Baena has yet to produce any noteworthy results and the Spaniard will look to change that at the US Open.

Choinski will aim to be aggressive on serve as he looks to shorten the points and approach the net when possible. Meanwhile Carballes Baena will make this a war of attrition and look to extend the rallies as much as possible. The Brit will be slight favourite given the pace of the courts but will know that if this match goes long, then Carballes Baena will be best positioned to win the match given his Grand Slam experience.

Prediction: Choinski in four sets.
